4-H Scholarships

Ten outstanding Saskatchewan 4-H members have been awarded 4-H Scholarships totaling $7,100 to assist with their post-secondary education. Awarding these scholarships was a very difficult task as all applicants demonstrated outstanding levels of leadership with the 4-H program and their communities. Congratulations to the scholarship winners and all of the deserving applicants. Saskatchewan 4-H wishes you the best of luck in your post-secondary education!

NEW - The William Cooper Entrepreneurship Scholarship ($1,000) was awarded to Colin Haggart of Abbey, SK. Colin has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 12 years, is currently a senior member with the Abbey-Lancer 4-H Beef Club (District 11, SW Region) is also a Member Representative on the Saskatchewan 4-H Council?s Board of Directors. Colin will be taking the Business I Program at the Great Plains College in Swift Current. Furthering his education will assist Colin with running his established welding business that currently provides services to local farmers and ranchers with general repair and maintenance.

Canadian Wheat Board Scholarship ($1,000) was awarded to Meaghan Dimmel of Lloydminster, SK. Meaghan has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 7 years and is currently a senior member with the Hillmond 4-H Beef Club (District 35, NW Region). Meaghan will be attending the University of Saskatchewan, College of Agriculture and Bioresources and eventually hopes to be accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine specializing in large animals.

The Hector Loveridge Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) was awarded to Kerrie Andreas of Sheho, SK. Kerrie has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 10 years and is currently a senior member with the Sheho 4-H Beef Club (District 18/19, NE Region). Kerrie will be taking the Agricultural Sciences degree program at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, University of Saskatchewan. Kerrie?s long term plans are to study plant improvement, working with genetics and pathology to provide more viable crop growth.

The Western Producer Scholarship ($1,000) was awarded to Raylene Moellenbeck of Englefeld, SK. Raylene has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 10 years and is currently a senior member with the Bar West 4-H Beef Club (District 21, NE Region). Raylene is attending Lakeland College in Vermilion Alberta taking the Animal Health Technology program. She eventually plans to work in a mixed veterinary clinic in rural Saskatchewan.

Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Scholarship ($750) was awarded to Jennifer Heddon of Meadow Lake, SK. Jennifer has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 6 years with the Woodland Multiple 4-H Club (District 36, NW Region). She plans to attend the University of Saskatchewan to obtain her Kinesiology degree and then hopes to proceed into an Optometry program.

Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Scholarship ($750) was awarded to Alyssa Trefiak of Leross, SK. Alyssa has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 10 years and is currently a senior member with the Kelliher 4-H Homecraft Club (District 39, SE Region). She will be attending the University of Saskatchewan Arts and Science program and eventually hopes to pursue a degree in the field of education or commerce.

Butler Byers Hail Insurance Scholarship ($500) was awarded to Mandyy March of Big Beaver, SK. Mandyy has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 10 years and is currently a senior member with the Milestone Variety 4-H Club (District 14, SE Region). She will be furthering her education through the Petroleum Engineering Technology diploma program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Mandyy?s long term career goal is to work as a technologist in the oil field and eventually operate her own oil field business which will recycle unused materials.

Bayer Crop Science Scholarship ($500) was awarded to Kelsey Dale of Plunkett, SK. Kelsey has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 7 years and is currently a senior member with the Viscount 4-H Beef Club (District 21, NE Region). Kelsey will be taking the Ag Business program at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, University of Saskatchewan. Kelsey?s long term goals are to work in the agriculture field in the area of sales and marketing.

Saskatchewan Equine Ranching Association Scholarship ($300) was awarded to Leanne Quibell of Melfort, SK. Leanne has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 9 years and is currently a senior member with the Melfort Trail Blazers Light Horse 4-H Club (District 27, NE Region). She will be attending Olds College in Alberta taking the Animal Health Technology program. Leanne hopes to eventually own her own ranch where she will board and run a rehabilitation centre for horses.

Saskatchewan Equine Ranching Association Scholarship ($300) was awarded to Elizabeth Smyth of Prince Albert. Elizabeth has been involved with Saskatchewan 4-H for 14 years and is currently a senior member with the Equine Elite 4-H Club (District 32, NE Region). She will be attending SIAST Kelsey Campus, Veterinary Technology Program and eventually plans to work in that field while also pursuing her plans to train horses and start a sheep farm.
